Impostor alert in Sonal’s life

Actor Sonal Chauhan is not a happy person these days. She discovered, a few days ago, that someone is posing as her and attending exclusive parties in town. The man 'uses' his girlfriend to sign the log-books at the venues and then enters the parties.

"I got to know about this from my friends who got in touch with me a few days ago to ask whether I had attended a particular party. I told them, 'I was at my relative's place that day'. And then they told me that somebody had got inside the venue as Sonal Chauhan and attended the party. For a long time, I was trying to figure out what was going on," says Sonal.

It was one of her friends, who helped Sonal figure this 'mystery' out. The impostor had opened a social networking account in her name with her picture on the home page. As invites to some of the exclusive parties are sent out on social networking sites, the person got his hands on a few of them. "There have been occasions where I was told that I had already entered the venue when I was actually standing outside. I will lodge a police complaint if this goes on," says Sonal, whose father is a senior officer with the Mumbai police.

Sonal's friends say the man is lanky, tall and bearded who lurks around a party venue and enquires whether Sonal has come in. When he finds out that she hasn't, he brings his girlfriend. She then signs the register as Sonal and gets him inside the party.

"The man has added my friends on the social networking site and even sends funny messages to them. He has joined some e-groups that I can't even dream of associating myself with. I have consulted a police officer who says I can block that internet page by lodging a complaint with the cyber crime cell of the Mumbai police. I am exploring my options now," she says.ON A DIFFERENT MANHUNT: Sonal Chauhan
