Minnisha Lamba gets candid about her sexy avatar in Kidnap
Your new look in Kidnap is the talk of the town!
When Sanjay (Gadhvi), the director, told me he wanted to showcase me in a completely different light, I was excited. It was an opportunity to experiment. He had faith in me. The character is that of a young, hip girl; like Alicia Silverstone of Clueless. She's the leader of her gang. Everyone follows her. But there is much more depth to her.
From Bachna… to the bombshell transition, what reactions are you getting?
The kind of the reactions I have been getting are really exciting. People keep telling me how they thought it was someone else initially but only after looking at the song a couple of times they realised that it was me.
Is it like a career move for you to look sexy henceforth?
I don't think an actor does anything consciously. An actor gets fitted into a part for which they are apt. Your roles choose you; you don't choose them. The look that has to be worked on for an individual character is worked upon on a film-to-film basis. I can't decide that today I only want to do glamorous roles or today I only want to do girl-next-door kind of roles because that way, I would be limiting myself.
You worked hard for the bikini-bod?
Oh yes, worked out tons! Hit the gym big time and controlled my diet like crazy. Did everything from cardio, to yoga, to aerobics, to weight training. It was a very hard process. Anyone who feels it' easy to wear a bikini, let me just say that — it is the toughest thing that you can do to your body.
You have earned the sexy tag. Comment.
Well I take that as a huge compliment. Cause, today I feel being sexy is a good thing. Nowadays-good girls go sexy too and it is a cool thing you know.
What does the word sexy mean to you?
Clothes just form a superficial layer to it but sexiness is all about the attitude, its all about being confident and loving yourself so that the world can look at you and love you as well.
